Description

RUTH K400

RUTH K400 Acrylate (Metal Salt) Grouting Material is a water-soluble injection grout based on acrylic acid modified with an alkaline metal oxide or hydroxide. The system consists of main liquid A, component B, initiator C and accelerator D. Components C and D are first added to their corresponding liquids. The prepared A+ and B+ liquids are then delivered through a double-liquid grouting pump at a 1:1 ratio and react to form an elastic, water-blocking gel.

With a tested viscosity of only 9 mPa·s, K400 flows similarly to water and can penetrate hairline cracks, fine joints and small soil pores that conventional cementitious grouts cannot reach. Its reaction speed can be adjusted for different temperatures, leakage conditions and injection distances.

After curing, the material forms a flexible gel with elongation greater than 100%. It accommodates movement in cracks and deformation joints, resists repeated dry-wet cycles and maintains a durable anti-seepage barrier. The formulation does not contain toxic polyacrylamide.

Primary Applications

  • Subway stations and tunnels: Injection sealing of active leaks, construction joints and fine cracks.
  • Curtain grouting: Formation of an anti-seepage curtain behind underground walls and tunnel linings.
  • Basements and underground structures: Treatment of hairline cracks, shrinkage cracks, top slabs and leaking joints.
  • Culverts and reservoirs: Water cut-off and seepage control in concrete structures.
  • Foundation improvement: Permeation grouting and consolidation of loose or water-bearing soil.
  • Soil settlement control: Filling fine pores and improving localized ground stability.
  • Ports and infrastructure: Waterproofing and leak sealing in demanding below-grade environments.
  • Deformation and construction joints: Flexible sealing where structural movement may occur.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Ultra-low viscosity: Tested at 9 mPa·s, allowing penetration into gaps as narrow as 0.1 mm.
  • Adjustable gel time: Curing can be adjusted from less than 30 seconds to more than 10 minutes.
  • Flexible elastic gel: Elongation greater than 100% helps tolerate movement and vibration.
  • Excellent impermeability: Permeability coefficient below 1 × 10-7 cm/s.
  • Dry-wet cycle resistance: Designed to maintain sealing performance through repeated wetting and drying.
  • Low shrinkage: Shrinkage is less than 10% when used in cracks or deformation joints.
  • Controlled water expansion: Tested water expansion rate of 88%.
  • No toxic polyacrylamide: A safer professional grouting formulation.

Mixing and Application Guide

1. Prepare the A+ Liquid

Add initiator C to main liquid A. Stir for more than one minute until the powder is completely dissolved.

2. Prepare the B+ Liquid

Add accelerator D to component B and mix evenly.

3. Use a Double-Liquid Grouting Pump

Inject the prepared A+ liquid and B+ liquid at a 1:1 ratio by volume or weight. The liquids should meet only at the mixing head or injection point.

4. Prepare the Leakage Area

Drill injection holes or grooves at the leakage location. Seal visible surface cracks and openings with fast-setting cement and allow it to develop sufficient strength before injection.

5. Control the Grouting Pressure

Use a manual or electric double-liquid grouting pump. Recommended initial pressure is 0.2-0.6 MPa. Adjust pressure only after confirming the safe capacity of the structure, packers, hoses and pump.

6. Confirm Gel Time

Temperature affects reaction speed. Carry out a small on-site test and adjust components C and D before full application.

7. Observe the Pot Life

Prepared A+ and B+ liquids must be used within one hour. Do not use material that has begun to self-polymerize.

Reference Gel-Time Table

Prepared A+ and B+ liquids are mixed at a 1:1 ratio.

A Component C Initiator B Component D Accelerator 25-30°C 20°C 15°C
25 g 1 g 25 g 1 g ≈5 s ≈9 s ≈9 s
50 g 1 g 50 g 1 g ≈11 s ≈26 s ≈34 s
100 g 1 g 100 g 1 g ≈40 s ≈59 s ≈166 s

Always verify gel time using the actual batch and site temperature before injection.

FAQ:

What is acrylate grouting material used for?

It is used to stop water leakage, seal fine cracks and construction joints, form underground anti-seepage curtains and consolidate water-bearing or loose soil.

What is the difference between acrylate grout and polyurethane grout?

Acrylate grout has extremely low viscosity and forms a soft, elastic hydrogel, making it suitable for curtain grouting, fine cracks and broad seepage paths. Polyurethane grout reacts with water to form foam or resin and is often selected for rapid localized leak stopping.

How fast does RUTH K400 cure?

Gel time is adjustable from less than 30 seconds to more than 10 minutes, depending on component dosage and temperature.

What equipment is required?

Use a compatible double-liquid grouting pump capable of delivering prepared A+ and B+ liquids at a stable 1:1 ratio.
